Gabriola Fire Protection Improvement District Administrator Paula Mallinson confirms today that Friday's annual Halloween fireworks display has been postponed.
The event has been rescheduled to Friday Nov. 9 at 7 pm, as the weather forecast for next week shows much better weather is coming, she said.
This morning Fire Chief Rick Jackson went down to Twin Beaches, where the fireworks are held, Mallinson said, but there were puddles everywhere. With no signs that the rain will let up, she said, Jackson decided to postpone the annual display.
The Volunteer Fire Department, which puts on the display, will provide all the usual Halloween trimmings at the fireworks, including a bonfire candy, and hot beverages, Mallinson said.
