On Oct. 18, grade sixes and sevens went to Vancouver for WE DAY.

WE DAY is an inspirational gathering about leadership and changing the world. There were motivational speakers like Desman Tutu and Magic Johnskon. Desmond Tutu said some of us are V.I.P. (very important people) but all of us are V.S.P. (very special people) and his laugh was so contagious.

There were also singers like Shawn Desman, Demi Lavoto and One Republic. And we had a surprise appearance named Cody Simpson! He was amazing!

There were a lot of heart-touching stories, like one about a girl named Molly Burke. She became blind when she was 14 and was bullied for most of her life.

There were more motivational speakers like Marc and Craig Kielburger, brothers and founders of Free the Children; they told us that anyone can make a change and that WE are the change.

One of our personal favourites was Spencer West.  Spencer’s legs were amputated below the pelvis at a very young age. His doctors said he would NEVER be a fully functioning member of society. Well, he proved his doctors wrong when he climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest mountain, on his hands! Spencer did this to raise money for clean water for people in Africa.

The experience was amazing! All the speakers were so compassionate and loved what they did. It made you want to do your part in changing the world! They told us everyone can make a CHANGE, be the CHANGE and go from ME to WE.
