The HOPE Centre is pleased to announce that the Teen Peer Helping Program will start on Saturday October 20.
Every year since 2002, the program has successfully guided 15 to 20 teens through a comprehensive and growth-enhancing course that provides training in communication skills, project management, team work, and conflict resolution. Among other topics, the program supports or strengthens the teen’s abilities in problem-solving and social skills, healthy autonomy, and bright future outlook, and enables them to develop healthy peer relationships.
The Teen Peer Helping Program has helped island youth to grow and mature in our community, by helping one another through the challenges of adolescence and beyond.
Facilitated by Genni Cooper, the program begins with six successive Saturday workshops, starting Oct. 20, 10 am- 4 pm, at the Gathering Place building, 790 North Road.
“We appreciate all the community help we get”, says Alice Verstraete, Executive Director of The HOPE Centre. “If you would like to become a ‘Partner in Prevention’ with us, please give me a call at 247-8730”.
