Gabriolans are headed to Victoria to oppose Big Oil and government plans to increase tanker traffic on the BC Coast.

Our own group, Save Our Shores, will assist all Gabriolans who plan to join the huge sit-in/occupy event  at the BC Legislature Oct. 22 in Victoria. The action is endorsed by, among hundreds: David Suzuki; Naomi Black; Stephen Lewis; Maude Barlow; Bill McGibben; Jackie Thomas, Chief, Saik’uz First Nation; and other groups, large and small, from BC and elsewhere.

SOS will organise rides down to the capital in cars – or by bus if enough people respond. Phone Mary Gillis 250-247-8481 or email maryjwords@shaw.ca and register. If you plan to make your own way to Victoria, find Gabriolans in the protest at the large red and white banner Save Our Shores/Stop Oil Spills.

Jean Mclaren will organise a direct action, non-violence training on October 13, 10 am to 1 pm. Email mclaren_jean@yahoo.ca if you wish to participate.
