Dear Editor,
I would like to mention to your readers a recent experience which indicates that we should all be more careful in our daily actions.
On Sept. 5, while out for a morning walk, I passed a car letting an elderly gentleman out of the passenger side. To reach his home, he had to cross the road with traffic going both ways and at his back was a steep embankment of at least six feet. As the driver was leaving I glanced back and the man had lost his balance and was tumbling down the bank and could not get back on his feet.
Two younger men in vans stopped and helped the elderly man back up onto the roadway and I helped him down his roadway and up the stairs to his home.
In the first instance, it would have been so much safer to have driven into the driveway and let the gentleman exit the car in a safe setting. And I thank the passing drivers for being alert and stopping to help.
