Every September, thousands of Canadians band together to fight shoreline litter, a key threat to our waterways, by participating in the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup. The Shoreline Cleanup is one of the largest direct action conservation programs in Canada. It aims to promote understanding of shoreline litter issues by engaging Canadians to rehabilitate shoreline areas through cleanups (www.ShorelineCleanup.ca).
As part of this initiative the Gabriola Power & Sail Squadron will be cleaning the beach at Degnen Bay on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 1:30 pm. The Squadron is committed to safe boating and safe boating education. A clean beach is a safer beach for all.
Please join the Gabriola Power & Sail Squadron in fighting shoreline litter as part of the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup. BBQ to follow!
Meet at the foot of Degnen Bay Road. Bring: gloves; rubber boots; garbage bags; and a side-dish to share at the BBQ.
Cleaning our beaches brings the community together in a project of care for our shared natural world.
