Trees biggest cause of serious accidents says Gabriolan
Monday, July 9, 2012

Some of Gabriola’s most serious accidents have been caused by trees that are too close to the road right-of-way (ROW) according to one Gabriolan who attended a June 18 meeting about Gabriola roads.

The meeting at Agi Hall, was organised by the Gabriola Transportation Association (GTA),  to provide Gabriolans the opportunity to share their concerns and insights with highway officials.

A meeting attendee, who identified the trees as a road hazard, also acknowledged that Gabriolans would not be happy about having the trees cut down. However, he suggested 6 by 12 inch reflectors could be installed on any of the trees on the ROW to make them more visible.
