The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure will be widening the right-of-way at the intersection of Wharf Road and South Road on Gabriola Island to provide additional and safe parking for users of the federal public Green Wharf.

Work is expected to begin  with clearing adjacent to the roads on June 25 and 26.

There may be some minor delays to motorists – up to 10 minutes on South Road, and up to 20 minutes on Wharf Road. 

The priority is to maintain safety for the travelling public and workers, and motorists are asked to follow the directions of traffic control workers.

The ministry will try to expedite the creation of some additional safe parking spots by the July long weekend, with completion of the project by mid-July.
