Mark Nepo, author of The Book of Awakening, one of Oprah Winfrey’s ‘Ultimate Favorite Things’, is coming to The Haven on Gabriola Island, February 5–7, 2013 to present a keynote address and two-day workshop.

Poet and philosopher Mark Nepo has spent the last 35 years teaching poetry and spirituality all over the world. He has published 13 books and recorded eight audio projects, and his work has been translated into 20 languages.

This workshop is based on the #1 New York Times Bestseller The Book of Awakening. It arises out of Nepo’s own story and his understanding of other people’s struggles with their humanness; it aims to help people explore their own capacity to stay vital and in love with this life, no matter the hardships they encounter. Topics include “The Pain of Becoming”, “Meeting the World”, “The Stones in The Way”, and “The Magic of Peace” – profound and life-giving material that can aid participants to deepen the way they perceive the world.

Nepo’s understanding of the journey of inner transformation and a life of relationship is a natural fit for The Haven: a centre for personal growth where for 30 years people have learned to live their lives more fully and with deeper awareness of themselves and others.
