At Pet Palace Grooming I believe that to groom with tenderness means to be assertive and confident. Dogs are very receptive to the energy that the groomer presents. When I approach the dogs I groom with confidence, they are unlikely to feel frightened and fidgety.

Grooming is an unnatural process for an animal to endure, so the energy of the groomer dictates the level of stress of the pet. They must be shown that the groomer is in control. This way, there is a lesser chance of nicks, cuts, and general stress to the animal. I believe gentleness must be paired with a disciplinary attitude.

When it comes to grooming with love, there are a few things to consider in attaining the perfect cut. People always say to me, “he/she is just a pet, it doesn’t have to be perfect”. I always respond that it’s not about the perfection of the pet, it’s about working with their natural structure to simulate perfection of their breed. This is the art of grooming which I believe is attained through years of experience and patience. A love for the art itself is a huge asset.

Care

It’s important to take care in multiple aspects of the grooming procedure. The safety of the animal is first and foremost. Proper hygiene, such as clean filtered water, specialised dog shampoo and sterilised tools are crucial aspects to the health of the pet. A secured table with proper restraint for the pet ensures their safety during the process. Skills, patience and experience are very important aspects of the groomer so that the pet is safe and unharmed during the cutting of nails, brushing of teeth, cleaning of ears, and trimming of coat.
